Pictures needed!

Preparation of our annual school yearbook is in full swing. The PTO relies on parents and staff to supply us with the candid pictures that the kids love to see. The more pictures we have available, the better the final product. Field trips, special events, and everyday activities are all needed. Higher resolution files are preferred to make editing easier. Submissions can be sent to our hardworking yearbook editor Betsy Van Dyke at  yearbook@fallriverpto.org  Thank you in advance for your help!

Conference Meals

It’s time for parent/teacher conferences again, which means we’re asking Fall River families to help provide dinner for our hard-working teachers.

If you can make a dish at home, pickup an ingredient at the grocery store, or bring something from your favorite restaurant, you can help.

Signup to bring something on Wednesday, February 4; Tuesday, February 10; or Thursday, February 12.

New Parent Orientation

Fall River PTO will be hosting a free New Parent Orientation on the first day of school. We welcome all families who are new to Fall River (at any grade level) to join us! Come to one of two (identical) sessions:

  • Thursday, 15 August at 9:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, 15 August at 1:00 p.m.

Take a tour of the school. (I know you’re dying to see what the lunch room is like. I was.) Learn about school-wide programs like Fox ROCKS. (“I got a Fox today!” is a good thing.) Find out what major events you can expect this year. (We do only one fundraiser.) Discover how you can get involved. And ask questions!

Each orientation is about 40 minutes. You don’t need to register or call ahead; just show up! Always check in at the office when visiting the school, then join us in the library (don’t worry; there’s a sign). You’re welcome to bring and supervise younger children, but we will not have childcare available.

Fall River Carnival 2013

We’re eagerly getting ready for this year’s annual Fall River Carnival on Friday, May 17th from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.

Our Carnival has been a beloved annual event for more than 10 years now. It features age-appropriate games and activities — everything from a basketball toss for skilled players to a lollipop tree where our youngest visitors win at least a lollipop every time. With prizes, an ice cream truck, spray-on tattoos, and other fun attractions inside and outside Fall River, everyone always has a great time.

But we cannot do it without your help!

We’re asking volunteers from each grade to staff three or four activities for one hour at a time. Volunteers take tickets, run the game (don’t worry, they’re easy) and hand out prizes to winners.

Give us one hour of your time and we can make this year’s Carnival a wonderful experience for every family!

To signup, please visit:

http://FallRiverPTO.org/carnival-volunteers/

You’ll see which activities we’ve assigned to each grade level, but please feel free to signup for any activity!

Spirit Gear

Would you like to show your Fall River spirit with some new apparel? We’re having a Spirit Gear drive! Print and send an order form by Monday, November 12th.

This is not a fundraiser. Fall River PTO has asked Spirit Gear Direct to reduce their prices by the amount schools normally receive from spirit gear orders (about 20%). You donated in the Fox Trot Fundraiser; this is just a chance to show some school spirit!

2012 Fox Trot

It’s time to kick off our annual fundraiser!

On September 28th, the students of Fall River Elementary will run laps around Stephen Day Park (next to our school) competing with their own personal goals. They ask for your sponsorship in the race.

This is our only cash fundraiser of the year (so the only time we’ll ask for your money to support Fall River for the next 12 months). Let’s show how much we believe in our students by beating our fundraising goal of $30,000!

Pledge Now!

You can learn more about Fox Trot, signup to volunteer for the event, and of course, pledge to sponsor your favorite Fall River Fox in this great event.

Get in the Student Directory

We’ll be publishing the 2012-2013 Fall River directory electronically for the first time! This will save paper, let us make updates throughout the year, and save up to $350 in printing costs — fundraising dollars we can put back into our classrooms.

Contact information you provide will be given to other Fall River families only for family-to-family communication. No commercial messages are ever permitted.
